Stuart Gandy to Train

I am keen to build up our Tasmanian team and when I purchased this filly at the Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale I decided to send her to Stuart Gandy.

She is a very athletic filly and vetted out without any issues.  She looks like a 2yo to me with her pedigree backing this up.  Her 3rd dam Hasna, was the Champion Two Year Old Filly in Australia in 2002/23.

The filly has nice conformation with her knees closed up which is important when buying horses that may go early.

Tiger Of Malay

Tiger Of Malay was a very precious 2yo with three wins at two including the Group 2 BRC Sires Produce Stakes.  He was also placed in the Group 1 JJ Atkins Stakes, one of Australia’s five Group 1 races for 2yo’s.

As a 3yo he resumed with a strong win in the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes.

Tiger Of Malay has a great female line with his dam the More Than Ready mare Sambar also producing the Group 3 winners Samizdat and Samovare.

His pedigree traces back to Taj Rossi and Dark Eclipse, a Golden Slipper winner.

This is his first crop of yearlings.

Mintha

Mintha won twice and was placed 2nd in the Group3 MVRC Champagne Stakes.  She was also 3rd in the SAJC Queen Adelaide Stakes

Mintha is by the Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice who is one of the greatest sires to ever stand in Australia.  He is the dam sire of 29 Group 1 winners including some of our best gallopers in recent years including Zoustar, Anamoe, Savatiano and the list goes on.

This is Mintha’s second foal.  Her first foal Barrelling has had just the one start finishing 6th at Morphettville.  He is in work with seems to have good ability.  Barrelling is by Toranado so he should improve with age.  Mintha is in foal to Home Affairs which is very positive.  She is a beautifully bred mare.

Prime Thoroughbreds with First Season Sires

I have had terrific success buying the progeny of first season sires.  In most years I only buy a couple of yearlings by the new sires.  Look at these results for runners by first season sires I purchased over the past 9 years:
