Stuart Gandy to Train
When I inspected the progeny of Daumier at the Gold Coast Magic Millions Sale I was somewhat taken back with how good they were. They are super types. This filly is very athletic and has a real touch of class about her. She looks like a 2yo with her sire being the equal best 2yo colt of his year in Australia from a strong female line.
Stuart Gandy has won the Tasmanian Magic Millions Two Year Old Classic for Prime Thoroughbreds as well as training the outstanding 2 and 3yo filly Zany Girl.
On what I’ve seen Daumier has a great chance of being a successful sire. I have had great success syndicating the progeny of first season sires. I have highlighted some of our successes below.
First Season Sire Results – Prime Thoroughbreds
I have had amazing success purchasing yearlings by first season sires. Some of our best results have been:
Rubisaki ($85,000) – Rubick’s best filly or mare.
Fituese ($55,000) – Deep Field, NSW BOBS Horse Of The Year
Unchain My Heart ($45,000) – Al Maher, won VRC Ramsden Stakes twice
Under Command ($35,000) – Commands first Group 1 performer
Miss Divine Em ($47,500) – Super One’s third highest earning filly or mare
Embeller ($90,000) – Super One’s only Group or Listed placed mare out of his first crop
Zizzis ($100,000) – Sizzling, Adelaide Magic Millions winner
Casa De Lago ($60,000) – Delago Deluxe’s only stakes horse
Seonee ($80,000) – Winning Rupert’s most winning horse
Flattered ($130,000) – Yes Yes Yes’s best filly or mare

Daumier
Daumier is an outstanding looking horse and was a highly precocious 2yo winning the MRC Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes and Blue Diamond Prelude. He was also 4th in the ATC Group 1 Sire’s Produce Stakes and Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes. There are only five Group 1 races in Australia for 2yo’s.
He is by Epaulette who is by Commands one of Danehill’s best sons to go to stud with Danehill being the biggest ever influence on our industry. Currently four of the top five sires on the Australian Sires List are by or trace to Danehill. The same can be said for the Broodmare Sire List.
He has a great female line being out of a Street Cry mare with his second dam being the multiple Group winning Lonhro mare Parables.
I have been impressed with his yearlings. They are attractive, athletic horses.
Arizona Night
Arizona Night is by Champion sire Deep Field. It is early days for Deep Field as a broodmare sire but he already has 11 winners out of his daughters.
Arizona Night won one race at 1000m and was lightly raced. This is only her second foal. I love buying out of WA mares with Arizona Night coming from one of WA’s best families. The second dam Cool Trade won seven races including one at Stakes Level with several placings in good stakes races. She has thrown the Sydney and Melbourne winner Keep Your Cool.
This is a stunning filly and I expect her to run early and be a force to be reconned with in the Tasmanian 2yo races.
