I was thrilled to get this colt. I regularly visit Yarraman Park near Scone in the Hunter Valley and always spend a couple of hours checking on the progress of their weanlings and yearlings. I spotted this colt earlier in the year and was keen to secure another Hellbent before the yearling sales next year. After negotiations, I managed to persuade Harry Mitchell to let to buy this fellow. I’m certain when the yearling sales start next year this colt will be prove to be a great purchase.
Hellbent has done a great job with six stakes horses already to his credit in his first crop. He is by I Am Invincible and, in my opinion has a big future ahead of him at stud. He was a very fast horse.
Results make sires and Hellbent’s progeny are doing a great job for him. He finished 4th on the Australian First Season Sire’s List the 2021/22 Season and is currently seond the Second Season Winner’s List.
The dam of this colt was stakes placed twice and ran 4th in the Group 2 Wellington Cup. She was a good racehorse and comes from an outstanding female line that includes the Group 1 Queensland Oaks winner Zagalia which was also placed 4th in the WS Cox Plate. Over the years I haven’t purchased too many yearlings out of NZ bred mares but have had some good success with them including Quang Tri whose dam has a similar profile as a racehorse to Snow Secret.
This is Snow Secret’s 3rd foal. Her first foal Convinceibility won first up for Kris Lees..
