Kris Lees to Train!!!
When I did my inspections in Adelaide I was really taken by this filly. She is very strong, has a great girth and plenty of presence about her. She is a lovely walking filly and vetted out without any issues. I was expecting her to make at least $125,000 which I would happily have paid for her.
Our vet Dr Greg Nash is an excellent judge of a yearling and couldn’t believe I secured her for such a reasonable price. Bill and James Mitchell were also of the same opinion. I’m probably fortunate the sale was last week and not this after the great weekend Harry Angel had.
The filly will be paid up for the rich Magic Millions Race Series as well as the NSW BOBS Scheme. Our owners have had good success over the years with the BOBS Scheme including Fituese, the NSW BOBS Horse Of The Year. I have also won eight Magic Millions feature races including the $2,000,000 Magic Millions Guineas, $1,000,000 Magic Millions Sprint and Magic Millions Stayers Classic.
The filly heads to Kris Lees to train. Kris has been training for me for 20 years and is a great trainer and terrific person to work with. He has trained over 200 winners for Prime Thoroughbreds with his strike rate for us at 25% winners to runners for the current season.
Harry Angel (Ire)
Harry Angel (Ire) is the leading 3rd Season Sire in Australia and currently 7th on the General Sire’s Premiership. He is represented by some outstanding gallopers here including Tom Kitten, Stretan Angel and Private Harry. He has made a huge impression with his first three crops in Australia.
He leads the Third Season Sires Premiership and is close to $6,000,000 in stakes earnings ahead of his nearest rival Justify with about $4,000,000 in earnings.
The big question will be to see if Darley shuttle him back to Australia.
Strum Cha
Strum Cha is a very well related daughter of the Golden Slipper winner Stratum by Redoute’s Choice. She has had three to race for two winners including the Group 3 place getting 2yo Artstrum.
The 2nd dam is Dim Sim by Zabeel. She had six to race for five winners. She is a full sister to Lady Viola which Bill Mitchell trained. She had good ability with her daughter Purple winning two Group 1 races including the Queensland Oaks.
I love the bit of stoutness this family offers Harry Angel whose Group and Listed winners have shown great versatility winning from 1000m to 2000m. He looks an outstanding sire in the making.
The Stud
The filly was reared at Riverina Downs at Tarcutta, NSW. This is a very good boutique nursery. The only other yearling I purchased from the stud was Almerheri which Randwick, Warwick Farm and Canterbury.
