I am thrilled to be able to offer just the third colt by Champion Sire I Am Invincible out of the very well related Sebring mare Loretta. I offered the very first I Am Invincible yearling for syndication in Australia when I purchased a filly by the great sire out of the Flying Spur mare Hertz. Sadly, she had to be put down after a paddock accident.

I was keen to purchase a yearling by him from his first crop and it wasn’t until the Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale that I secured one. He went on to race under the name Invincible Me.  While he was no star he won in Adelaide and went on to win five races.  In 2014 I purchased a weanling colt from Yarraman Park which raced under the name of Invincible Al.  He was a terrific horse for his owners winning nine races and $532,815 prizemoney. He is I Am Invincible’s most winning horse of his 717 winners that were not ‘Black Type’ performers.  He was a very smart horse.

I have been looking to purchase another colt by I Am Invincible ever since Invincible Al started to make a name for himself but the ones I liked either failed the vet or went over my budget.

I had seen this colt as a weanling at Yarraman Park where he was reared and followed his progress.  He is a lovely type of horse and to be honest I didn’t believe he would come in under my budget.  I had budgeted $300,000 to secure him.

It is amazing how things pan out and I was very surprised he was knocked down to me for $200,000.  I was fortunate the Hong Kong Jockey Club were not active at the sale.

I am Invincible

I have been fortunate to have had lived through the careers of the three greatest sires of the past 60 years to stand in Australia in Star Kingdom, Danehill and now I Am Invincible.  I Am Invincible has set a standard that only the very elite sires do. He is a local product being by Invincible Spirit out of a Canny Lad mare with Canny Lad tracing back to Star Kingdom.

I Am Invincible is Australia’s Champion Sire with earnings this season in excess of $30,000,000.  This is the first time in Australia a horse has achieved this milestone.

I Am Invincible is becoming a sire of sires with his sons Hellbent and Brazen Beau in particular doing sterling jobs at stud but there are plenty more active in our breeding industry. His daughters are now starting to be highly sought after broodmares with Kimochi being sold for $2.4 million at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale

It is impossible to find a chink in I Am Invincible’s armor.

Loretta

Loretta is a very well related daughter of Champion Sire Sebring.  She was a $300,000 yearling out of the very good mare Precious Lorraine.  Precious Lorraine is by Champion sire Encosta De Lago and closely related to Redoute’s Choice, Al Maher, Manhattan Rain and Rubick.  These are four high profile sires with Redoute’s Choice being Danehill’s best son at stud.

Loretta was placed with Precious Lorraine winning the Group 3 South Australian Fillies Classic.  This is Loretta’s first foal with the second and third dams having 14 to race for 13 winners including six stakes performers.

This colt has a sire’s pedigree if he was to win the right races.

The Trainer

The first horse I sent Tom was Double Rock who had been having issues jarring up on the firm tracks we had to put up with during the drought. The mare really blossomed in the great environment at Warrnambool.  First up she finished a close second to a smart galloper and backed this up with two more second placings and then a strong win, which she richly deserved.  It is important mares win a race before going to stud and Tom achieved this goal.

It didn’t take Tom long to get us off the mark with Tillotson, the 2nd runner with him winning at Stawell and then Moonee Valley in Saturday company where she ran a class record.  She had been struggling at Randwick, with Warrnambool being a perfect fit for her.

I moved Embeller to Tom with the aim being to get ‘Black Type’ which is so important for mares going forward into the breeding phase of their career. Tom almost pulled off a great training performance with Embeller running a close 2nd in the Group 3 Bow Mistress Stakes first up.  He got the mare the valuable ‘Black Type’ we were chasing. Only bad luck cost us the win. She was then retired, and I look forward to inspecting her yearlings in due course.

Tom has stepped out two of the first three yearlings I syndicated with him which are now 3yo’s. Whistlefield ran very well in a strong city race first up and then won her maiden impressively at only her second start.  She has now won at Moonee Valley and also during the Warrnambool May Carnival.  She is being set for the SAJC Lightning Stakes in late July.  She looks a filly with plenty of upside. Sutherland ran a gallant third at only her second start and is back in work after having a minor operation on her throat.  Masked Marauder impressively won a jump out on 16 May 2024.  He looks very promising.

We now have eleven horses with Tom and I’m thrilled with the way he handles his horses.  He is an outstanding communicator and his attention to detail is second to none.

Embeller – Tom did a great job with her getting ‘Black Type first up in the TRC Group 3 Bow Mistress Stakes!!!

Tom did a great job with the wayward mare winning twice with her in the first preparation with him including this win at Moonee Valley in Class Record time!!!

Whistlefield breaking her maiden at only her second start for Tom Dabernig!!!
