Tom Dabernig to Train!!!
Bill and James Mitchell have did a great job sorting through the Inglis Classic catalogue with James being very bullish about this filly. She is by the highly credentialled Blue Diamond winner Tagaloa from the young well related So You Think mare Thoughtfilly.
I have been on the lookout for a filly by Tagaloa. He has a great pedigree and is doing the job with his first two crops producing some very good young horses headed up by his 3yo daughter Salty Pearl which won the Group 2 MVRC Fillies Classic in October.
This filly is Super VOBIS qualified which is a great bonus. The VOBIS bonuses are amongst the best on offer in Australia.
I like So You Think mares with our good Deep field mare Whistlefield out of one of his daughters. I am of the opinion he will be a top broodmare sire in time. He is already the broodmare sire of the Golden Slipper winner Fireburn as well as a very good horse in France
named Punchkine.
This filly looks like an early goer and will head to Tom Dabernig. The pedigree page is quite impressive and received a big boost when Thoughtfilly’s 1/2 sister Lonhro’s Queen won the Listed Nudgee Stakes in January.
This filly was bred at Yulong Stud, one of the best studs in Australia standing Written Tycoon, Alabama Express, Grunt and of course Tagaloa. I have purchased two horses from Yulong with Lady Lyra winning and running 2nd in the 2025 Tasmanian Sires Produce and a Grunt filly named Ground Force who is displaying good ability.
Yulong have invested in some outstanding mares and boast a broodmare band that would be the envy of any stud in Australia. Included is the current Australian Horse of The Year in Via Sistina.
The Gooree Impact
This is another example of a family that Gooree developed and we are so lucky to be able to now get access to these great families. Our highly promising filly Capital Heir comes from one of Gooree Stud’s great families. This female line represents some of our very best with the second dam the multiple Group and Stakes winning Danehill mare Queen Of The Hill. She was an outstanding mare and has been a great broodmare. The pedigree page tells the story.
There is no doubt Gooree Stud had the best broodmare list in Australia. Their families are simply outstanding.
Other immediate family members are Smart Missile, Northern Meteor, Rabbukka, Kiss From a Rose, Surge Ahead and of course Tornado Valley.
When Lord Kanaloa is mated to High Chapparal mares we see just two runners for a stakes filly in A Shin Deneb the winner of $832,212 in Japan and Full Moon who has had two starts for two placings, also in Japan.
I wasn’t confident I would be able to secure this filly. I was prepared to go to $150,000 to get her and was over the moon when she was knocked down to me.
She will be broken in early and given every chance to get to the races early. I think she is a star.
